Volunteer Opportunities
Promotion & PR
Duties include help design poster for the market season, have poster printed and post around the Bulkley Valley, publish musicians for the week & special events in “Out & About”, write a weekly article for the Interior News profiling what is in season, vendors, market musicians, etc, update the provincial website with details about our market.
Saturday Morning Market Support
Duties include help vendors set up and take down their stand on Saturday mornings, help market manager mark out stall spaces, put up signs, set up and take down tents, table, chairs, etc., help musicians set up and take down, assist with maintenance and inventory of canopies, help market manager and vendors make patrons feel comfortable, as well as inform them of upcoming events, specials, market rules, etc.. Some light labour is required to lift chairs, tents, tables, etc.
Organizational Development & Capacity Building Facilitator
Duties include helping the Bulkley Valley Farmers Market Association continue developing and refining its strategic plan. This may include collecting information and soliciting opinions from vendors, directors, and the public. It could also include facilitating planning sessions.
Help recruit and train volunteers, Initiate and champion any projects that may help the organization reach its goals.
We ask that volunteers for this position have some skills and/or willingness to learn about organizational development and capacity building as well as some group facilitation and communication skills.
Special Events
Duties include; organize and promote special events and themes at the market (e.g. seniors day, kids day, other theme days), look for funding opportunities to support special events/days, help set up and sit at a booth at the Fall Fair, book musicians to play at the market. If you'd like to book musicians then already having a connections and knowledge of the local music scene is beneficial.
